BORON - laboratory for design and synthesis of fluorophores

Main page

The BORON FluLab is part of the Department of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, Nicolaus Copernicus University in ToruĊ„, Poland. Our main focus is the synthesis of fluorescent dyes and the tuning of their properties, including tunable fluorescence quantum yield, two-photon absorption, and precise control over the position of the emission band. The dyes obtained in our laboratory are dipolar and quadrupolar, and both topologies are investigated for potential applications in bioimaging. We are also working on the non-fluorescent or weakly fluorescent molecules to make those being more effective. The synthesis of strained fluorophores is also an interesting topic we work on.
